It was a great meeting as, to start of, we had a record number of guests, totalling almost in the double digits. Most of our guests were from MYDIN and they were attending the meeting at the invitation of our President with a view to starting a Toastmasters Club of their own. Kudos to our President for “spreading the word” and sparking more interest in Toastmasters – a true-blue Toastmaster indeed!

We started off right on time with the SAA of the day. Shanmugam, CTM calling the meeting to order and a timely reminder of the Toastmaster’s Promise. Our President, Lakhmichand, ATMB gave a warm and enthusiastic opening address to all, especially to the guests.

Being the Toastmaster of the Evening, I decided to spend more time on the history and benefits of being a member of Toastmasters as we had a number of guests who were interested in joining the organization.

The invocation was delivered by Lourdes, DTM with his impressive voice and thought provoking message.

The Table Topics Master, Muhendaran, ATMS had all of us thinking hard with his excellent choice of topics. The Best Table Topics Speaker award went to Hussain, our guest, who showed that even though he is no longer a member of Toastmasters, just like riding a bicycle, you never forget the experience.

The Table Topics evaluation was very ably done by Shanmugam, CTM who pointed out the strengths of the speakers as well as pointers for improvement for all of them.

First assignment speaker, Ranjit Singh, CTM tickled us pink with his Speech #5 from the Entertaining Speech Series with an “Ater Dinner Speech”. He was evaluated by Lakhmichand, ATMB. The setting of his speech was that of being a speaker at a friend’s wedding.

Second assignment speaker, Rema Paul, ATMS delighted us with her Speciality Speech from the Advanced Manual, evaluatwd by Lourdes, DTM. She presented a touching and emotionally-charged story entitled “A Gift From The Heart”.

Ivan Fong, CTM who was the General Evaluator for the evening, gave a very comprehensive and constructive evaluation of the entire meeting.

The president, Lakhmichand, ATMB concluded the meeting with grace and homour together with some feedback from our numerous guests present.
