What an enchanting and cozy spot we have moved to! The theme (New Environment) as well as the Word-of-the-day (Refreshing) reflected the move accordingly. Though space was limited, the new venue certainly retains a very dynamic ambiance by literally bringing the members “closer” together.

The meeting started off with the President’s, Lakhmichand, ATMB, speech. He brought us down memory lane by detailing the history of the Bangsar Toastmasters Club and the various changes in venue the Club has had over the years.

This was followed by a very touching invocation delivered by the colorful and exuberant Rema Paul, ATMS.

The Table Topics session was conducted by Shanmugam, CTM, and true to his mettle; he delighted us with his choice of topics. Mary Barton, CTM spoke on “Words being Sharper than a Spear”. Shandini, CTM thought the grass always seems to be greener elsewhere when she spoke on “One Man’s loss, Another’s Gain”. Our newest member Malini spoke eloquently on why she thought that “Technology Is For Idiots”. Parimala went on to say why she thought “A Man’s Worst Enemy is His Own Brain”. Not to be outdone, the lone male speaker Ranjit, ATMB kept us in stitches with his humorous take on “All Good Men Live Forever”. Muhendaran, ATMG concluded the Table Topics session with his concise and crisp evaluation.

The second part of the meeting was none less than exciting where we had two good speeches from Sham Sunder, CC and Ranjit, ATMB. An interesting fact to note is that Sham Sunder has with that speech completed his basic 10 speeches and will now move on to the advance speeches. Sham has also rightfully earned the title of “Competent Communicator – CC”. Well Done Sham. Sham’s speech was evaluated by our veteran in Toastmasters, Rema Paul, ATMS, who weaved ideas for improvement very well in her evaluation.

The second and final speech of the day was done by Ranjit, ATMB, who was assisted by Lourdes, DTM in the role play. Ranjit’s speech was evaluated by Mary Barton, CTM, who was critical in her thorough evaluation, apart from which, Ranjit also received open feedback on the role-play section from the audience.

The General Evaluator for the day, Lourdes, DTM, commented on the good standards in Bangsar meetings and reminded the members not to take it for granted or be complacent about the club’s standards.

The Club Exco election took place immediately after the meeting where the new team of office bearers where elected by the members.
