We had a very interesting agenda for the meeting, prepared by our VPE, with 3 good speeches delivered by our members.
The first speech was by our latest addition to the club, Loke Kah Sing who delivered his first speech (the first step in his long Toastmasters journey), titled "Me & Myself".
Second was by Rema Paul (a veteran in Toastmasters) titled “Ageless” from the Humorously Speaking Manual.
The 3rd speech was delivered by Shanmugam from the Storytelling manual, titled “What happens next”. All the speakers did very well and received thorough and constructive evaluations.
Evaluators: Ivan Fong,
Awards: there was a stiff competition!
Awards for the day are:
Best Table Topics Speaker: Suria Kumar
Best Speaker: Rema Paul

The table topics session for the day is worthy of a special mention. It was conducted by Parimala. The members and guests had a crash course in English literature, with interesting quotes.
The assigned role players played their roles very well and ensured that the meeting ran smoothly and above all it benefited all who attended it.

What an enchanting and cozy spot we have moved to! The theme (New Environment) as well as the Word-of-the-day (Refreshing) reflected the move accordingly. Though space was limited, the new venue certainly retains a very dynamic ambiance by literally bringing the members “closer” together.
The meeting started off with the President’s, Lakhmichand, ATMB, speech. He brought us down memory lane by detailing the history of the Bangsar Toastmasters Club and the various changes in venue the Club has had over the years.
This was followed by a very touching invocation delivered by the colorful and exuberant Rema Paul, ATMS.
The Table Topics session was conducted by Shanmugam, CTM, and true to his mettle; he delighted us with his choice of topics. Mary Barton, CTM spoke on “Words being Sharper than a Spear”. Shandini, CTM thought the grass always seems to be greener elsewhere when she spoke on “One Man’s loss, Another’s Gain”. Our newest member Malini spoke eloquently on why she thought that “Technology Is For Idiots”. Parimala went on to say why she thought “A Man’s Worst Enemy is His Own Brain”. Not to be outdone, the lone male speaker Ranjit, ATMB kept us in stitches with his humorous take on “All Good Men Live Forever”. Muhendaran, ATMG concluded the Table Topics session with his concise and crisp evaluation.
The second part of the meeting was none less than exciting where we had two good speeches from Sham Sunder, CC and Ranjit, ATMB. An interesting fact to note is that Sham Sunder has with that speech completed his basic 10 speeches and will now move on to the advance speeches. Sham has also rightfully earned the title of “Competent Communicator – CC”. Well Done Sham. Sham’s speech was evaluated by our veteran in Toastmasters, Rema Paul, ATMS, who weaved ideas for improvement very well in her evaluation.
The second and final speech of the day was done by Ranjit, ATMB, who was assisted by
The General Evaluator for the day,
The Club Exco election took place immediately after the meeting where the new team of office bearers where elected by the members.

Meeting Review (17th April, 2007)
The meeting was attended by 12 members and 5 guests.
It was heartening to see 2 old members making a comeback. Welcome Tiru and Parimala!
One of the guests, Rohijas, ATMB is a member of KL Advanced, UEM and Club Pidato. The other guests (non-toastmasters) were: Joanna and partner, Kasantra and Malini.
Toastmaster of the evening was CTM Ivan Fong.
The meeting started with a great welcoming address by the President, Lakhmichand, ATMB, followed by an uplifting invocation by Muhendaran, ATMS, related to the theme “service”.
Role players: Chandran, CTM - AH Counter, Parimala - Grammarian and Loke (our newest member) the Timer.
First-timer, Hooi Bien, did a very good job in the Table Topics, by giving topics related to the day’s theme, “service”. There were six speakers with 3 guests participating and guess what! Our guest Malini put our toastmasters to shame by being selected as the best table topics speaker! Table Topics evaluation was very well covered by Ranjit Singh, ARMB
Kudos to the first-timers, Hooi Bien and Loke.
We had a dash of humour presented by Lakhmichand. As usual his one joke was enough to evoke laughter.
After the break, there were 2 assignment speeches. First speaker, Sham Sunder, delivered a very emphatic speech entitled “Stand up and be counted”. He persuaded the audience to stand up for their rights in some of the current hot issues in the country. Second speaker, Rema Paul, ATMB, enlightened us on the subject of “misunderstandings” and we were humorously entertained. Sham Sunder was evaluated by Chandran, CTM, and Rema was evaluated by Rohijas, ATMB. Both evaluations were helpful and encouraging.
General evaluation was handled by Muhendaran, ATMS. As usual, he reminded us of some of our shortcomings that need to be corrected.
The guests gave very positive feedback regarding the meeting.
Congratulations and Welcome to Loke & Malini who signed up as members!
The President ended another very fruitful and enjoyable meeting by reminding us that we have to move on which is characteristic of Bangsar Toastmasters periodically. We will be leaving our ‘artistic’ venue for yet another new environment in our next meeting.
See you guys!
